Polarization-Controlled Multi-Pass Thomson Scattering System in the Tandem Mirror GAMMA 10

چکیده
An effective method to increase Thomson scattering (TS) signals is required in low-density plasmas. Multipass TS has the advantage of enhancing scattered signals. We constructed a double-pass TS system for a polarization-based system modelled on the GAMMA 10 TS system. In the second step, we have developed the multi-pass TS system based on the former double-pass TS system. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the polarization-based configuration, the multi-pass system was installed in the GAMMA 10 TS system, which is capable of multi-pass scattering. We undertook Rayleigh scattering experiments. The integrated scattering signal was magnified to be approximately three times as large by using the multi-pass system with 6 passes.

متن کاملFeasibility of a Multi-Pass Thomson Scattering System with Confocal Spherical Mirrors
Multi-pass Thomson scattering is an attractive method for measuring electron temperature and density in low density plasmas. The feasibility of multi-pass laser optics consisting of two confocal spherical mirrors has been studied, and analytic expressions for the path have been obtained. These can be used to optimize the design under the given conditions. The effects of aberration, as well as p...
متن کاملTowards Measurement of Polarization Properties of Skin using the Ellipsometry Technique
Introduction: The human skin is an active medium from the optical point of view. Therefore, the diagnostic and therapeutic techniques employing light are increasing. Current optical techniques are based on the measurement of the intensity of reflected absorbed or backscattered light from or within skin. Studies have shown that biological tissues, and in particular skin, demonstrate polarization...
متن کاملA polarization-based Thomson scattering technique for burning plasmas
The traditional Thomson scattering diagnostic is based on measurement of the wavelength spectrum of scattered light, where electron temperature measurements are inferred from thermal broadening of the spectrum. At sufficiently high temperatures, especially those predicted for ITER and other burning plasmas, relativistic effects cause a change in the degree of polarization (P) of the scattered l...

In this paper, a novel technique for the design of two-channel Quadrature Mirror Filter (QMF) banks with linear phase in frequency domain is presented. To satisfy the exact reconstruction condition of the filter bank, low-pass prototype filter response in pass-band, transition band and stop band is optimized using unconstrained indirect update optimization method. The objective function is form...
